Substance Properties

Neutral and non-reactive, it appears as a silver, shimmering liquid or gas, or can harden to form clear Ildarglass crystals.

Brief History

While sometimes counted as either the first or the ninth spectral element, Silverblood is considered the foundational substance of all spectral matter, energy, and life. First seen and controlled by An'tumbe nearly 10,000 years ago, it is the primary element associated with emotions and memories.

The name "Silverblood" originated thousands of years ago, based on the way souls "bleed" when injured. It is also the only spectral substance that will naturally gravitate away from an injured soul toward whoever or whatever nearby most desperately craves it as nourishment.

Selyrians believe that Silverblood is less an element and more the default state of everything that exists in the spectral world. According to their beliefs, Silverblood only transforms into one of the eight "true" spectral elements when the "corrupted" by a deviation away from balance. As a result, most adults and nearly all children under twelve in the Selyrian Union have gray eyes - their attempt to appear balanced despite how infrequently souls are considered true Silvanites.

Silverblood is highly valued in nearly all cultures – a treasure in its own right that is somehow rare yet plentiful at precisely the same time.
